The current structure of the Grand Friday Mosque dates back to 1656 CE, commissioned by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar. However, an earlier mosque is believed to have existed on this site since the 1153 CE. From either terminal, it's a short walk or a quick taxi ride to the mosque. Taxis are readily available in Malé.
