What to expect

Visitors typically begin at the main villa area, where you can board a guided tram tour that circumnavigates the sprawling vineyard and the expansive reservoir. The highlight for most is the Sala Wine Bar, an airy, open-sided structure overlooking the water, where you can sample flight selections. If you aren’t interested in the house wine, the estate’s fresh-pressed grape juice—served chilled in wine glasses—is thick, vibrant, and arguably the most authentic taste of the property. Between sips, walk through the "Movie House" garden, featuring sprawling floral displays and European-style fountains that double as popular backdrops for local wedding photography.

History & significance

Silverlake was founded in 2002 by Surachai Tangjaitrong and his wife, the renowned Thai actress Supansa Nuengpirom. Motivated by a desire to bring viticulture to the humid climate of Eastern Thailand, the couple transformed what was once a modest fruit orchard into the country’s premier wine destination. The property is significant not just for its production of localized vintages, but as a pioneer in the Agrotourism movement in Chonburi, proving that Mediterranean-style agriculture could thrive in Southeast Asia with the right irrigation and grafting techniques.

• Best time of day: Visit between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The midday sun is oppressive, but the "golden hour" light reflecting off the reservoir makes for exceptional photography and comfortable strolling.

• Tickets: Entry to the main grounds is free, but you will pay a nominal fee for the tram tour and guided tastings.

Getting there

Silverlake is located in the Na Chom Thian sub-district, roughly 20–30 minutes south of central Pattaya. There is no public transit to the gates. The most efficient way to arrive is to hire a private taxi or use the Grab app; clarify with your driver that they are willing to wait, as hailing a ride back from the remote vineyard can be difficult outside of peak hours.
