Phare, The Cambodian Circus was founded in 2013 by the non-profit organization Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS), meaning "Art for Education" in Khmer. PPS was established in 1994 by nine young Cambodian men who had been exposed to art therapy while living in refugee camps after the Khmer Rouge regime. Their mission is to provide education, vocational training, and support to vulnerable young people in Cambodia through the arts.
