Omega Mart by Meow Wolf
Step inside a seemingly mundane grocery store where the artisanal "Mammoth Chunks" and "Gender-Fluid Body Soap" are merely the entry point to a sprawling, psychedelic multiverse of secret tunnels and neon-soaked conspiracies.
What to expect
Omega Mart is a multi-story, immersive art installation that functions as a narrative-driven scavenger hunt. Upon entering, most visitors spend their first thirty minutes browsing the "grocery" shelves, where every product—from jars of decorative dirt to cans of "Whale Song Deodorant"—is a physical joke or a sculptural oddity.
The experience shifts when you realize that the refrigerators, broom closets, and vending machines are actually portals. Beyond these thresholds, you enter a surreal, bioluminescent wilderness that spans multiple floors. You will climb through dryer vents, slide down industrial chutes, and navigate claustrophobic caves that open into vast, alien landscapes. While you can simply wander and enjoy the art, serious adventurers should purchase a "Boop" card at the front desk to interact with terminals throughout the space, uncovering the dark history of the fictional parent corporation, Dramcorp.
History & significance
Launched in 2021 as the flagship anchor for AREA15, Omega Mart is the work of Meow Wolf, an arts and entertainment collective based in Santa Fe. It represents a massive evolution in experiential art, blending high-concept narrative storytelling with interactive technology. The installation features contributions from over 300 artists, turning what could have been a standard gallery space into a permanent, living, breathing commentary on corporate consumerism and interdimensional tourism.
Practical tips
- Tickets: You must book online in advance; time slots frequently sell out, especially on weekends.
- Duration: Dedicate at least three to four hours. The site is a physical labyrinth; if you rush, you will miss the deeper narrative layers.
- Best Time: Aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday morning immediately after doors open (usually 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM). Late nights are popular for the bar atmosphere but can become bottlenecked in the narrow hidden passageways.
- Footwear: Wear comfortable, closed-toe sneakers. You will be climbing stairs, crawling, and maneuvering across uneven surfaces.
- Connectivity: Cell service is inconsistent inside the "portals"; rely on the interactive booths for clues, not your phone.
Getting there
Omega Mart is located within AREA15 at 3215 S Rancho Dr, Las Vegas. It is situated just west of the I-15 highway. It is not walkable from the Las Vegas Strip; you will need to take a ride-share (Uber/Lyft) or drive. The commute from the center of the Strip (near Bellagio) takes about 10–12 minutes by car.
Nearby
- The Beast by Todd English: Located inside the same building (AREA15), this is the most convenient dining option, offering high-end, over-the-top casual fare inside a massive, open-air industrial hall.
- Zak Bagans' The Haunted Museum: Located about a six-minute drive east on Charleston Blvd, this collection of “cursed” historical artifacts provides a darker, more macabre contrast to the neon surrealism of Omega Mart.
